OUR STORY
10 Knots Shelly Beach Smokehouse makes craft fresh smoked fish including Kahawai, Hoki, Warehou, Trevally and Hake in our small smokehouse at Shelly Beach, South Kaipara.
You can buy all of our fish including smoked salmon sides online, direct from our factory shop or at select retailers including Farro Fresh Food, New World and Pak N Save.

Our factory shop is located at Shelly Beach, South Kaipara, just 45mins northwest of Auckland CBD.
Some journeys begin with a map. Ours began with a chance encounter.

Established in 2016, The name 10 Knots came to the original owners during a walk along Onetangi beach when they spoke of the ideal wind speed for sailing.
​
Years later, by chance, we met at a doc hut during a hunting trip in the Urewera's. A meeting that would one day set us on a course to carry on that name, and their craft into the future
​
Now a Family owned business, Cassandra & Leigh took over ownership in 2023, after 2 challenging years on Waiheke Island the decision was made to bring the business home.
Now located on there vineyard at Shelly Beach they smoke daily using only natural ingredients.

Nothing added, nothing hurried, just honest flavour that preserves the oceans freshness.

With Leigh's lifelong connection to the moana through years of commercial fishing & owning several seafood retail outlet he brings the industry experience where Cass's 12 year career in early childcare bring the personality

As sailors, we know what a perfect 10 Knots breeze feels like - the kind that carries you steady and true. 10 Knots is more than smoked fish. Its a family story shaped by sea and soil - good winds and good fortune and it's one were proud to share at tables across Aotearoa.

Our smoked fish is available online, at our factory shop and in wineries, cafes, bars, restaurants, delis and supermarkets all over New Zealand.
